چکیده

Satellite imagery and data are playing an increasingly important role in scientific studies of the Earth its climate. The community has been demanding ever-increasing capabilities accuracy from provided by these satellites. One key instrument on board a series satellite platforms is Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), which provides high-quality low orbit covering visible to long-wave infrared parts spectrum. fourth build series, set be launched Joint Polar-orbiting System 3 (JPSS-3) platform, recently completed main ground calibration program integrated into bus near future. This covered comprehensive performance metrics designed demonstrate quality science ensure can maintain successfully once on-orbit. subject this work covers radiometric including dynamic range, signal-to-noise ratio/noise equivalent differential temperature (SNR/NEdT), polarization sensitivity, scattered light response, relative spectral response versus scan angle, uniformity, as well uncertainties; all met or exceeded their design requirements with some minor exceptions. Comparisons previous builds will also provided.

Pre-Launch JPSS-2 VIIRS Response versus Scan Angle Characterization

On-orbit whisk-broom sensors have scanning mirror assemblies, whose reflectance variations with scan angle must be characterized prior to launch. One such instrument is the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) onboard the Joint Polar Satellite System 2 (JPSS-2) platform. The scanning optics inside VIIRS includes a four mirror rotating telescope assembly (RTA) and a half angle mirro...
